The Iranian volleyball players played against Thailand this morning and managed to secure their third win 3-2 in the 2015 Sumer Universiade competitions in South Korea.
Iran was overcame by the Thai squad 25-23 in set one, but Peiman Akbari’s men managed to take the lead in set two and beat their opponents 25-22.
In the third set, the Thais managed to beat Iranian volleyballers 28-26, but again Iran pushed forward and snatched victory in the fourth set 25-17.
Iranian students’ volleyball players finally secured their victory against the Thai squad by winning the fifth set 15-13.
Iran’s volleyball team had previously beat Canada and Switzerland 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.
Iran will take on Russia Tuesday at 20:00 local time in the last leg of their matches.
The 2015 Summer Universiade, which marks the 28th edition of the tournament, opened in the city of Gwangju on July 3, and will run until July 14.
Iranians sportsmen and women are vying for medals in artistic gymnastics, soccer, volleyball, taekwondo, shooting, archery, athletics and rowing.
The Universiade which is staged every two years was hosted by the Russian city of Kazan in its last edition.
